In the mid-1970s of XX century, BMW decided to create a new sports car for the Group 4 race. The model was designed by “Motorsport” and designed by “Italdesign”. The design was based on a mid-engined M88 engine taken from the BMW 3.0Csi (E9), but it was overhauled: increased displacement, fitted with mechanical fuel injection, fitted with 4 valves per cylinder. These cars were supposed to become a kind of warm-up before the Formula 1 starts in 1979 and 1980: the idea was for 50 identical cars to be tested by test drivers from F1 teams. An uncomplicated but well-detailed model, that recreates the exterior and interior of the prototype. Suitable for modelers of any experience, only beginners should work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague.
