The history of the model goes back to the 1950s, when an inexpensive and compact car was needed in the post-war USSR. Many prototypes were created. Finally, the Italian FIAT 500 was taken as the basis of 965. However, the responsible approach of the designers made it possible to create a more modern design, than FIAT, there is a well-defined trunk, which contributed to the appearance of the nickname "luggage". The ascetic "Zaporozhets" salon is designed for 4 people. During the operation of the first "Zaporozhets", a number of shortcomings were identified. This is a lot of noise in the cabin, frequent overheating of the engine in the hot season and a small trunk. However, this had no effect on the popularity of "Zaporozhets" - most people liked the car, because of its charisma and uniqueness.
