The second series of the fifth BMW series with the body index E28 was presented in January 1981 in Munich. "Five" with the E12 body index was a huge success around the world, so the management of the company did not dare to change the appearance of the car significantly. The E28 model turned out to be very suitable for tuning. Just like big tuning masters in Germany, companies in this field on the other side of the Atlantic launched small batches of converted "Five" into the market of exclusive cars. In December 1987 production of all E28 models is discontinued. Production at the BMW plant in the Republic of South Africa was stopped later - in 1989. A total of 709,319 E28 "fives" were produced and a large number of them are still on the roads and streets of the world. And the top - models E528i, 535i, M5 would still "beat" many modern cars in terms of dynamism and comfort.
An uncomplicated, well-detailed and well-designed model, suitable for a modeler of almost any experience, only beginners are better off sticking it under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and not as one of their first more complex models.
