In 1958, serial production of the "STAR 66" truck, which was innovative for those times, began. These cars are produced at the Starachovichi factory mainly for the needs of the army. The machine was driven by 105 h. p. power gasoline engine. In 1966, the car was modernized, the brake system, pneumatic system and some mechanisms were changed. This is how the “STAR 660” truck was born. It is produced in the basic version of the truck, as well as mounted special purpose vehicles, such as field hospitals, radio stations, pontoon bridges, field workshops and many other. "STAR 660" production ended in 1983. They were replaced on the line by the new “STAR 266” truck. Two types of cranes are mounted on the “STAR 660” chassis. Rebuilding was done by "FAMBA" workshop in Glogow. The model recreates a mobile crane with a “Hydros” crane, mounted on a “STAR 660” chassis. All-terrain chassis allowed the crane to travel on any roads and off-road. The crane's hydraulics were powered by the car's engine. These cranes are used in building and industry.
A complex, well-detailed and carefully designed crane model with full detailing of the interior, crane operator's cabin, crane mechanisms, engine compartment, chassis, suitable for intermediate and advanced modelers only. Modelers with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, can try to make this model without the cab and crane cab interior detailing, engine compartment detailing, simplified chassis and crane mechanisms, opaque glasses. But it won't be an "easy walk" either.
