STAR - 27L N - 38 "Meblowoz" - the Polish furniture transport van

In the sixties of the 20th century the "STAR" factory produced a series of ten units of cars for the transportation of furniture. Furniture at that time was produced as complete items, so their dimensions could be quite large and cars with a large loading area were needed to transport them. “Meblowoz” is built by combining a D-40 furniture trailer with a STAR - 25L truck chassis with an extended frame, which has been extended even further for this vehicle. Places for porters are installed above the driver's cabin. The walls of the cargo compartment are covered with a padded coating, and under it, seaweed mats were attached - all this was to protect the furniture from damage. The original car is powered by a gasoline engine, the last example still in use after the restoration has a diesel engine installed and its marking has been changed to "STAR - 27L", according to the nomenclature, used at the time at the factory in Starachovici.
