Jelcz 005 is a fire engine, manufactured by "Jelczańskie Zakłady Samochodowe" on the chassis of a Star 244L truck manufactured at the "Starachowice Truck Plant". It is marked GBA 2.5/16 according to the Polish fire engine marking system. The first two prototypes were presented already in 1972. They were built, using a Star 244L chassis with a Type 642 cab. In 1974 at the end, the final prototype was created. The original color scheme of the prototype vehicles consisted of a silver "grille", the STAR logo and three parts of the Jelcz logo, red blinds, red wheel arches and a black bumper. Serial production began in 1975, but mass production of vehicles began only a year later. In 1975-1979, 638 copies of the first series were produced. In 1979 towards the end both Star and Jelcz made changes to the model. The modernized vehicle was named Jelcz 005 M. The newer models improved travel comfort and increased pump performance by increasing the tank size and reducing the idle area. In 1983, due to difficulties in producing a sufficient number of vehicles, the Jelcz 008 was created, which was a simplified version of the Jelcz 005. This fire engine differed in its equipment, primarily in that it replaced the automatic pump with a motorized pump. In 1987 another modernization of Star 244L was carried out, which resulted in the same modernization of Jelcz 005.

A model of medium complexity (at the level of "children's models"), due to the relatively abundant and fine detailing, a well-designed model, that both the beginner and the less experienced modeler will stick together without any help from more experienced modelers. But working in a company is always easier, more fun, and work goes faster and better. The model reproduces the appearance of the fire station car of the Halcnow microdistrict of Bielsko Biala, Poland. The publication is complete with a small sheet of 1 mm thick cardboard with laser-cut details, which will greatly facilitate the production of some parts.
