Chocim Castle is built on a rocky hill on a peninsula, formed at the confluence of the Dniester and one of its tributaries. The history of the castle is closely connected with the history of Moldavia, Poland and Turkey. Built at the crossroads of important trade routes, it was a strategically important defensive point. The first brick fortress was built in the middle of the XIIIth century, its biggest reconstructions took place in the sixties of the XVth century. Then a completely new castle was built, which has preserved its appearance to this day. The castle is built of stones, the height of the walls is increased by 10 meters and their thickness reaches 8 meters, 6 towers rise above the walls. In 1538 Chocim Castle was occupied by the Polish army, in the 16th century the castle was occupied several times by different owners, in 1615 it was taken by the army of Polish magnates, a year later it passed into the hands of Moldavia, in 1621 the victorious battle of Karol Chodkewich, the Great Hetman of Lithuania, took place here, during which the fortress was defended, and the enemies are beaten. The Lithuanian-Polish army, with the help of Piotr Sahaidacny Cossacks, defeated the Turks. As a result of that battle, the Polish-Turkish border was pushed beyond the Dniester, but Chocim remained close to that border. In 1673 Jan Sobieski, the great hetman of the Crown, won an important victory against the Turks near Chocim. In 1812 Chocim was annexed to Russia and a few years later it was granted city rights. The castle lost its original importance during that period. To this day the castle has remained almost unchanged

A large, well designed and fairly richly detailed model of a beautiful and formidable castle, that captures the modern look of the castle. Even a modeler with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, can glue the model perfectly. With a second magazine, this publication can be turned into an architectural model - a masterpiece, but this will require a lot of photos, patience and effort.
