A wooden church was built in the 12th century by Lake Wang (Vangsmajasi) in Norway. It was one of thousands of shrines, built during that period. The building material was Norway pine. The parts are connected with wooden nagels and fasteners. These churches were decorated with rich wood carvings and carved wooden decor, and later they were painted with multi-colored paints. But at the end of the 19th century, few sacred objects of this type remained. The Wang church was no longer suitable for further use and was sold to Professor John, Kristian Dold for 427 marks. But the real owner became the king of Prussia, Friedrich Wilhelm IV. In the summer of 1841 the church was dismantled and transported throw Bergen and Szczecin to the Royal Museum in Berlin. The shrine was to be assembled on the island of Pavey near Berlin. But this idea was abandoned. Countess von Reden helped the king to choose the site for the church. Since the evangelicals, living in the Upper Carpathians and its surroundings, did not have their own house of worship, Countess von Reden persuaded Frederick to give them this excellent church. Count Christian Leopold von Schalffgonsch from Cieplice provided the place for the construction of the church. On March 26, 1842 the parts of the church in Berlin were loaded onto river barges and transported by the Odra River to the vicinity of Legnica. From here, they were transported in nine carts to Karpacz. On August 2, 1842, King Frederick William IV laid the cornerstone of the reconstructed church. The work continued for two years. The ceremonial opening and consecration of the sanctuary took place on July 28, 1844. The king gave the church the name "Mountain Church Wang of Our Redeemer", and the bells, placed in the tower, announced, that from that moment on the church would carry out the same service to God, as in Norway.
