The first eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church in Alaska was established in 1840, the Orthodox faith quickly spread in the region, especially among the Kenai people - that's what the Russian settlers called the local inhabitants of the Kenai Peninsula. The first chapel was built by the efforts of the Russian American company in St. Igumen (priest) Nikolay Militov, who arrived in 1944 and served here until his death in 1869, became the first priest in the Nikolaus fort near the village of Kenaj. The current church was built in 1895-1896 and became the second sanctuary, replacing the previous church, built in 1849. The church is built in Pskov style from logs and its shape resembles a ship. The bell tower was added to the church later - in 1900. In 1906 in front of the Church of the Assumption of the Immaculate Mother of God, the chapel of St. Nicholas was built next to the graves of the first saint Nikolai Militov, the preacher Makarij Ivanov and an unknown monk. Built in 1881 next to the church and chapel, the house of the parish priest is the oldest surviving building on the Kenai Peninsula. In 1970 the church, chapel and cemetery were recognized as US National Historic Landmarks and included in the list of Alaska National Historic Landmarks.

A simple, but beautiful model of an Orthodox church in Alaska, USA, which even an advanced beginner and a modeler with little experience can glue together perfectly without any outside help. A complete beginner, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, will also perfectly cope with the problems, that arise during the gluing of this model - there will be very few of them.
