The Abbey Church of the Maria Laach Monastery is one of the most famous attractions in the Laacher See Volcanic Park. It is the most famous Eiffel building. It is one of the most striking examples of German Romanesque church architecture. With its nursery, workshops, bookstore and traditional craft shop, the abbey attracts over a million visitors a year. Count Palatine Heinrich II of Laach in 1093 founded a monastery by the lake in front of his castle. Archbishop Hillin von Trier opened and consecrated the church in 1156, and around 1230 the last part of the church, the vestibule, the so-called paradise, was opened. The abbey church is one of the most valuable Romanesque churches in the Rhineland. When in 1802 the decisions of the French Revolution took effect, the church's activities were stopped. After private use, the Jesuits founded their university here in 1862-1872, until in 1892 the Benedictines settled in the monastery again. Since then, the monastery, which has many visitors and guests, has been a place of worship and multifaceted work for the monks, employing many workers from the region.
A beautiful, well-designed, colorful and not too complex model for modelers of all experience. Only beginners and modelers with little experience are recommended to do this model under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. The design of the model does not stand out in any way, except that simple details bring out a great overall image. The set includes two 1 mm thick cardboard sheets for gluing the frame parts.
