The church was built for 54 years. Building began in 1851 and was initially carried out according to the project of architect Jožef Child. In 1868, when the sanctuary was practically finished, the dome of the building collapsed. Mikloš Ibli built the dome according to his own design, perfectly integrating it into the composition of the entire building. The building was completed by Jozef Kauzer, whose part was mainly responsible for the interior finishing works. The church was consecrated on November 9, 1905. The ceremony was attended by Emperor Franciszek Joseph I. In 1938 Pope Pius XII granted the Szent István Cathedral the honorary title of minor basilica. The length of the basilica is 87.4 m, width - 55 m, height - 96 m. St. István's Basilica is built in the Neo-Renaissance style and has the shape of an isosceles cross in plan. At the intersection of the transverse transept and the main nave rises a massive dome 96 m high and 22 m in diameter. Two tall bell towers are located on the sides of the main facade. The largest bell in Hungary, weighing 9 tons, is hung in the right bell tower. Above the central entrance is carved an inscription in Latin - "Ego sum via veritas et vita" - "I am the way, the truth and the life".
A medium-complexity, medium-detailed model for intermediate modelers, but this model, under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, can be perfectly glued together by modelers with little experience. And for the experienced, having two magazines, can make an architectural masterpiece.
