Originally the rotunda was built lower with a flat roof. After 1372 Ludovit I raised Skalica to a royal city with the right of walls, the rotunda was raised to be higher, than the city walls. It is still possible to understand, how much the building has risen - the presented part was made of smaller stones (unfortunately, this is not reflected in the model). In 1650 a dome with a weather vane was built, and a crypt in the center of the rotunda. In 1945 the rotunda was damaged during the fighting. Repairs were carried out in 1949, when the rotunda acquired its current appearance - the outer plaster was removed. In 1970, after it was declared a national cultural monument, archaeological, restoration and art historical research was carried out. In 1996 the wall murals were restored.
A small, simple, well thought out and detailed model, ideal for a beginner modeler, working with a more experienced colleague. The most difficult part, as in many models of sacred architecture, will be the production of the domed roofs of the building.
