The history of Slavkov has been known since the 13th century, when the Teutonic Order of Knights settled here. The built Teutonic fortress was confiscated a few centuries later by Sigismund of Luxembourg. At the end of the 16th century, a Renaissance-style castle was built on the foundations of this fortress, consisting of four wings with arcades and a prism-shaped tower. Then Slavkov and its surroundings were ruled by the Kounice family. A century later, the castle underwent a capital reconstruction in the baroque style, during which a whole series of famous Italian masters worked here, led by the architect Domenico Martinelli. At the same time, a 15-hectare French-style park was created near the castle. After the death of the last of the Kounice family, the Palfi family began to rule Slavkov, who owned it until the beginning of World War II, when the castle was taken over by the state. Now Slavkov Castle belongs to the city and is open to visitors. Not only the palace and the great park, but also a golf course, volleyball courts, a spa center, a modern sports complex and many other entertainments are available for guests. Various festivals, concerts, exhibitions, and other cultural events often take place in the castle.
A large, beautiful, but not one of the most complex model, which, under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, will be perfectly glued even by an advanced beginner modeler.
