In 1962, the production of electric trains “ER2”, consisting of two sections of wagons, was started at the Riga Wagon Factory. The assemblies were formed in pairs consisting of three types of wagons: "head", motor and intermediate. And the combinations could only be "head" + motor wagon, motor + intermediate wagons. These trains were manufactured until 1984 and were launched worldwide in over 4,000 sections that made up 850 different lengths of trains.
