The F-5 "Tiger" fighter, developed by the US company "Northrop", was later improved and began to be designated as the F-5E "Tiger II". The F-5A prototype made its first flight on July 30, 1959 and the improved F-5E took off for the first time on August 11, 1972. The "Tigers" entered service in the US AF in 1962 and are still in use in some countries: the Republic of China, Iran, Saudi Arabia , Singapore, Brazil and several other countries. Produced from 1959 to 1986 not only in the USA, but also in Taiwan (120 units). More than 2,000 aircraft were produced in total (F – 5E/F versions – 1,399). Used by the US AF in the Vietnam War, the Moroccan AF in the Western Sahara War, the Ethiopian AF in the Ethiopia-Somalia War, Thailand's counterinsurgency operations, the Cambodia-Vietnam War, the trophy "Tigers" were used by the Vietnamese, in the Iran-Iraq War and in many other the end 20th century - beginning of the 21st century conflicts.
