The 62.5 t "Swordfish" became the first Italian Navy missile cutter with hydrofoils. This is an improved US Boeing hydrofoil "Tukumkari" PGH-2 model, equipped with a 3300 kW Merlin "Protej" gas turbine and manufactured by Rolls Royce. The ship is powered by water-jet thrusters. In calm weather this cutter can reach a speed of up to 50 knots. Armament consists of two stationary "Otomat" "ship-to-ship" rocket launchers and a 76.2 mm "Otto Mellara" automatic cannon.
