The keel of this vessel was laid at Clydebank shipyard "John Brown" on 31 May 1916. After many structural changes, the building was completed in 1920 and the ship entered service on May 20 of that year. During the interwar years, she made several international voyages as a representative ship of the Royal Navy and was also modernized several times. The beginning of World War II the ship met on Atlantic Ocean patrols, trying to prevent German cargo and warships leaving or returning to the ocean from the North Sea. Also covered convoys, going to England. Participated in the shelling of the French fleet in the port of Mers-el-Kebir - this was done to prevent French ships from being intercepted by the German or Italian fleets. "Hood's" last operation was the pursuit of the German "pocket battleship" "Bismarck". On May 24, 1941, the fifth salvo from "Bismarck" hit the cruiser and it sank in 2 minutes, only 3 sailors were saved.
A complex, well designed and detailed model for experienced modelers. Antique publication.
