In the summer of 1941, USSR aviation was in dire need of a patrolling fighter - a successor suitable for fighting enemy bombers and reconnaissance aircraft. The rapid construction of such an aircraft was possible only on the basis of a machine already in production. Therefore, the "exterminating" past of Pe-2 was remembered. By the order of the State Defense Committee to the Moscow Aviation Plant No. 39 was ordered to produce a Pe-2 fighter version by August 6th. Despite the short deadlines, a prototype of the Pe-3 fighter took to the air on the morning of August 7th. The fighter was reinforced with offensive weapons, with an additional 12.7 mm BK machine gun with 150 rounds of ammunition at the front. One machine gun was dismantled in serial aircraft, but the combat stockpile of the remaining machine guns was increased. At the end of August, the plant was due to start production only of the Pe-3. And it was done. The Pe-3 was probably the world's fastest twin-engine fighter, taking just 25 days from order to series production.

A sophisticated, well-detailed, moderately designed model for moderately experienced and experienced modelers. Where necessary, details are printed on both sides. Antiquarian publication.
