At the end of 1916, construction work began on a new fighter at the “Sopwith” plant, which was very reminiscent of its predecessor, the Sopwith “Pup”. The main difference was the reinforced armament, which consisted of two “Vickers”-type machine guns, mounted on the top of the fuselage and partially hidden under the covers, which gave the aircraft its characteristic slightly humped appearance. Hence the name of the new fighter – “Camel”. Very soon Sopwith “Camel” became the main RAF fighter in Britain, although the opinions of the pilots, flying them, were very controversial. By the end of the war, about 5,500 aircraft of this type had been built, and the pilots, who had flown them, had shot down more than 2,500 enemy planes by the end of the war.
An uncomplicated World War I fighter model, well-designed and richly detailed. It recreates the look of the only machine of its kind, used in the interwar Polish Military Aviation in the 7th Squadron of Fighters. The model details everything, that is possible, but, at the same time, it is not complicated, so it can be assembled even by a novice modeler with experience in constructing slightly more complex models and working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. You can choose a more complex and simpler option.
