In 1941, the U.S. Military Aviation announced a tender for the design of a light reconnaissance aircraft. Among the 12 projects submitted to the competition, the Piper J-3 “Cub” attracted the most interest. The first 140 aircraft received by the Air Force were marked O-59. In 1942, mass production under the new name Piper L-4 “Cub” began. This version of the aircraft produced 1800 units. The planes received combat baptism in North Africa during reconnaissance flights during Operation “Torch”. Also used in battles in the Pacific Islands, China, Burma, India. The first L-4 appeared in Europe in September 1942. Widely used since the first days of disembarkation in Normandy. A lot of this type of airplane flies today.

A beautiful, uncomplicated, well-detailed and well-designed model for modelers of any experience, just for beginners to assemble it better under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. The most difficult place in the model is to attach the wing to the glazed said panels.
