The “Amerigo Vespucci”, an Italian training sailship, is a modern perpetuation of a 19th-century line sailship of the same name. The sailship was launched in 1931 in Naples. Serves as a training ship for officers of the Livorno Maritime Academy of the Italian Navy. Sailing equipment: three masts (fox mast, grot mast, byzant mast) with straight raft sails. The sailing equipment is traditional and it allows you to perform all the actions of sailing the ship. The sailship has repeatedly sailed across the Atlantic, participated in sailing festivals and races. Along with the “Amerigo Vespucci”, another similar ship was built in the 1930s and named “Christopher Columbus”. In 1949, it was transferred to the Soviet Union under reparations and renamed the “Danube”. Sailed in the Black Sea until 1963, and in 1970 dismantled in Odessa. The “Amerigo Vespucci” still in service.
Sophisticated, beautiful, well-designed and perfectly detailed model for experienced modelers only.
