“Saumarez's” keel was laid on 8 August 1941 at “Hawnhorn Leslie” shipyard in Newcastle. The hull was launched on December 20, 1942, put into service on April 1, 1943. The ship's history is full of successful actions, as a result of which it is recognized as one of the most distinguished British squadron destroyers of the Second World War. After sea trials, HMS "Saumarez" was added to the composition of the 23 Minesweeper Flotilla, where it became the flagship. The first assignment - in August 1943, accompanied the liner "Quin Mary" to Canada - the British Prime Minister V. Churchill sailed on this ship. After that, it was directed to the Northern convoys and accompanied ship convoys to the USSR. Participated in many great and famous skirmishes both in the Atlantic and in the Pacific Oceans. The most famous of them - in December 1943, he participated in the sinking of the German battleship "Scharnhorst" in the North Sea. On the night of July 15 to 16, 1945, HMS "Saumarez", together with other ships, sinks the Japanese heavy cruiser "Haguro" in the Strait of Malacca. In this battle, the Japanese destroyer "Kamikaze" was seriously damaged, but "Saumarez" itself was also damaged. These are just two episodes from the history of this ship. You can find others in the magazine. And the last point in the history of this ship was laid by a mine laid by the Albanians, on which it sailed on October 22, 1946 (already after the war) in the Corfu Channel. The heavily damaged ship with many casualties was towed to Malta, where it was no longer repaired. On September 8, 1950 it was handed over for cutting.

A complex, small, beautifully camouflaged model, suitable for a modeler with no less, than average experience.
