The F/A-18 aircraft is designed and manufactured by the order of USAF and Navy to fill the armament gap, created by the retirement of the aging F-4 “Phantom” aircraft. It is a joint product of famous American companies “Mc Donnell – Douglas” and “Northrop”. After the first flight in 1979 and many modifications, serial production began in 1982, and soon it began to be supplied to combat units. Constantly improved, used not only from aircraft carriers, but also from land bases. The best features of the plane are its versatility, rich electronic equipment, long operating range (can be refueled in the air) and high combat potential. The most widely produced and most versatile is the modification of the fighter-attack aircraft, the F/A-18. Epoxy-graphite plastics are widely used in this aircraft construction. In "Desert Storm" and operations in Kosovo and Yugoslavia, the F/A - 18 "Hornet" only confirmed its excellent combat characteristics.

The model is perfectly designed and well-detailed and is not easy, so we recommend beginners and inexperienced modelers to do it under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and assemble the model without a cab interior, with an opaque cab hood, intake chassis and incomplete suspension armament or even without it at all. Antiquarian publication.
