Westland „Whirlwind“ HAS.7 – the British transport helicopter

The helicopter was built in 1947 by the Sikorsky company in the USA (designation S-55) and almost all its versions were in service in US Army and Navy, take part in Korean War. The license for its production was bought by Great Britain and in 1950 a series of these helicopters, named "Whirlwind", began to be produced at the Westland factory. Used as rescue helicopters in the navy or transports in the ground forces. They were used in the conflicts of the fifties: in Malaya, Cyprus and during the Suez crisis. In 1952 these helicopters were also produced under license in France at the "SNCAE" factory. These helicopters, called "Elephant Joyeux" ("Happy Elephant") fought in the wars with Algeria and Indochina.

The model is of medium complexity, but requires a lot of work due to the large number of small details (on the scale of "Maly Modelarz"), specific shaping of details. But, when working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, this model will stick perfectly even - to a beginner modeler, who has made several models. Just don't rush.
