Douglas TBD "Devastator" is an American three-seat carrier-based torpedo bomber and bomber. Created by the Douglas Aircraft Company under the direction of Frank Fleming. The first flight of the XTBD-1 prototype took place on April 15, 1935. Serial production began in 1937. Since October of the same year it began to be used from aircraft carriers. A total of 130 aircraft were produced. In addition to the prototype, two parties of serial machines were produced. In 1937 the first party of 114 aircraft was ordered. In 1938 - a second party of 14 aircraft's was ordered to make up for operational losses. By the time the United States entered World War II, it was obsolete, but was relatively successfully used in the first battles. By the summer of 1942 it began to be replaced by the Grumman “Avenger” torpedo bomber. After heavy losses during the Battle of Midway, the remaining “Devastators” were removed from the decks of aircraft carriers.

Uncomplicated, interesting model with simplified cockpit interior detailization. Recommended for modelers with any experience, only advanced beginners and less experienced modelers are advised to work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague - this will not only be easier, but also more fun. For inexperienced people we recommend not to make the interior of the cabins, to make an opaque cabin canopy, retracted landing gear - the aircraft is in the flight phase. Antiquarian publication.
