The cruiser HMS “Penelope” was built in 1934-1936 at the “Harland and Wolff” shipyard. It was one of four ships of the same type. Despite the fact, that the ship was built according to British traditions, it was one of the most modern ships of the Royal Navy at the time. In 1942 the ship was fundamentally modernized, during which the deck plane, catapult and crane were dismantled, the deck was changed to an armored one, and the number of "Pom-poms" was increased. The ship took part in the defense of Malta during World War II and sank on February 18, 1944 after being hit by a torpedo from a German U-Boot near the coast of Anzio in the Mediterranean.

A moderately complex, well-designed and well-detailed model for intermediate and advanced modelers. Antiquarian magazine.
