When the USSR took control of the airspace over its territories, which was made possible by the start of serial production of fast and maneuverable Lavochkin KB fighters "La-5", the design bureau continued to work on the development of this excellent aircraft. In the course of 1943 "La-7" was constructed, which was the result of further development of "La-5FN". The La-7 was lighter and more powerful, than the “La-5FN”, one version was armed with three 20 mm cannons and could carry 200 kg of bombs. The “La-5” had only two cannons. Small improvements to the plane's silhouette increased the plane's maximal speed. The main improvement was the use of two longerons, made of profiled duralumin and steel sheet, the oil radiator was moved behind the cabin and the engine capotation was completely changed. The fighter "La-7" began to be serially produced in early 1944 and remained the main fighter of the AF of the USSR until the end of the war. Fighting with this type of aircraft three times Hero of the Soviet Union I. Kozhedub increased his number of victories to 62 and among the downed enemy planes there was even a Me-262, which confirms the excellent characteristics of the machine.

A simple, well-designed (cabin interior detailization included) fighter model, that can easily be assembled by a novice modeler, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. Antiquarian publication.
