In 1944 the design office of the Kirov factory in Leningrad, which worked on strengthening the armor of IS tanks, built a new tank, which it named IS 3 (short for Iosif Stalin). The group of designers, led by N. Duchov and N. Balzha, built this version of the tank, based on the armor concept of the T-34 tank. The resulting design and hull form was a complete innovation in the history of tank construction, and the thickness of rolled armor plates and their installation at large angles of inclination created maximum protection for the crew. The dimensions of the tank, while maintaining the previous characteristics and armament, slightly differed from the previous IS tanks. The innovation was a semi-spherical tower with sleek shapes, reminiscent of a mushroom cap. Among the structural innovations, it is worth noting: a separate mechanic-driver hatch, independent turret rotation control for the commander and gunner, an improved anti-aircraft machine gun mount. Serial production of IS 3 started in 1945. A dozen tanks took part in the final actions of World War II - the Berlin operation. They were officially presented in September 1945 during a parade in Berlin. Single IS 3 tanks were used in the Polish People's Army, but none of them have survived to this day.

A complex, well-detailed model, that requires care and attention, only for intermediate and experienced modelers. Model without interior equipment, but with excellent reproduction of all exterior and chassis elements. It depicts a vehicle, used by armored units of the Polish People's Army after World War II. Antique publication.
