Gdańsk still has two town halls: the Old Town Hall and the Main Town Hall. Both buildings are very valuable monuments of Polish culture and architecture. From the surviving documents it is clear, that there were once as many, as four town halls in this city. The first one was built by the citizens of Gdańsk in 1455 in the Teutonic New Town, the second - called the "Polish Town Hall" - was sold for demolition in 1597. The third one – which has survived without special changes until now – is located on Korzennej (Leather processors) street. The fourth - almost completely destroyed after the last war - was rebuilt and stands as an indestructible monument - a symbol of the Polish nation. Its walls are decorated with numerous white Piast eagles, and King Sigismundus Augustus looks down on the city from the weathervane. The history of the Main Town Hall dates back to the second half of the 14th century. At first, a large quadrangular building without a tower was built. Over the centuries the Town Hall has been rebuilt several times. A tower was built, which was raised in the 15th century and a clock mechanism was installed in it. The top of the tower was finally formed in 1489 and it has remained so until now. In 1494 a fire destroyed the Town Hall, but it was immediately rebuilt. Another fire broke out in 1556, which destroyed almost the entire interior of the Town Hall. During the rebuilding in 1559 - 1561 the pointed top of the tower - the helmet of Dirk Daniels - was replaced by a new top with a gilded Renaissance weathervane of King Sigismundus Augustus. The height of the town hall tower reaches 82 meters, the architecture of the walls is changed, the Gothic windows are replaced with Renaissance ones. Later the appearance of the building changed slightly. Another reconstruction took place in 1768, when Daniel Egert presented the main portal with a hall in the Rococo - classical style. The Town Hall was famous not only for its external beauty and tower vault, but also for the splendor and richness of its interior equipment, which was installed by Antoni von Oberghem in 1593-1611.

A fairly complex and labor-intensive model, intended for intermediate and advanced modelers only, one of the best “Maly Modelarz” models of the last century, and, perhaps, the best in terms of architecture. Antiquarian edition.
