The light cruiser “Leipzig” and her co-type “Nurnberg” were the last light cruisers of the Kriegsmarine. During the war they both operated mainly in the Baltic Sea. They were built with the idea of disrupting British sea communications and covering minelaying forces during operations. They were built in the twenties and thirties of the 20th century: "Leipzig" - 1929 - 1931, "Nurnberg" - 1934 - 1935. Later, larger and more powerful heavy cruisers of the "Deutschland" type began to be built. But the significant preponderance of Royal Navy ships quantity showed, that none of these ships were suitable for independent corsair expeditions in the Atlantic. At the beginning of the war the “Leipzig” covered the minesweeping forces, building mine barriers in the North Sea. In December 1939 she was hit by a torpedo, fired from the submarine HMS “Salomon”, after which she was repaired until almost the end of 1940 and was reclassified as a training cruiser. Later the ship was directed to the Baltic Sea, where, with a short break for a trip to Norway in June 1941, it served until 1943 as a training ship. In 1943 it was decommissioned, but, when things did not go well on the Eastern Front, it was returned to service again, but it remained idle for repairs until September 1944. But the service after it was not long - during the trip from Świnoujście to Gdynia with a cargo of mines, on October 14 it collided with the cruiser "Prinz Eugen" and "Leipzig" was almost split in half, but it was managed to be towed to Gdynia, where it was partially repaired. In March 1945 it fired at the attacking units of the Soviet Army, then sailed to Denmark. Here it served as the floating local office of the Minesweeping Service, later scraped.

A large, complex, well-designed and detailed cruiser model in a beautiful so-called "block" camouflage. The model is intended for intermediate and experienced modelers, but they will also have a place to exercise their hands and brain. There is a large reserve of colors, two variants of side planking - joining the parts is simple and according to the color joining lines. Excellent graphic instruction
