On December 28, 1983 the flag of the Polish Navy was raised for the first time at the naval port of Gdynia on the mast of the ORP "Gornik" ship. The ship was given the ship number 434. "Gornik" was the first of four ships of the 124 RE project, included in the composition of the Polish Navy. The first rocket shots were fired by the "Gornik" crew in July 1984. In 1995 the ship participated in the prestigious NATO maneuvers "Killer Woche" as the first Polish ship in NATO maneuvers. In 2005 the ship had already sailed 42,540 nautical miles and fired 22 SS-N-2C/D missiles. The ship often participates in the Polish Marynarka Wojskowa and in international trainings, visited the ports of Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Russia. In 2003 a celebration of the 20th anniversary of raising the Polish MW flag was held on the ship. Despite the number of nautical miles sailed and its considerable age, the ship still looks great and protects the territorial waters of Poland and the European Union.

A well-designed model of medium size. Any Polish Navy “Tarantul I” class ship model can be made from the publication, as there are different parts for all ships: ORP “Gornik”, ORP “Rolnik”, ORP “Hutnik” and ORP “Metalowiec”. The model is intended for intermediate and advanced modelers. However, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, it can be glued together by both a novice and a little advanced modeler. But it won't be easy.
