"Sea Shadow" - the American experimental ship

“Sea Shadow” was built as an experimental ship in the mid-1980s. It was built by “Lockheed Martin” on behalf of the “Future Project Research Agency”. The ship is built according to SWAT and STEALTH technologies. The purpose of this program was the development, testing and presentation of all new technologies, that were to be used in the construction of new super ships. The focus is on the areas of stealth radar, automation and maritime performance improvement. In 1993 the existence of this program was presented to the public, as the sea trials of the “Sea Shadow” began. In the fall of 1994 the ship served as a test platform for the latest combat systems. After these tests, the ship was docked in San Diego and acquired the status of a civilian ship. In 1999 the US Navy reactivated the “Sea Shadow” program, testing advanced information technology to reduce crew size. In the same year, the ship participated in the naval training "Fleet Battle Experiment - Echo". The ship was finally decommissioned in 2006. Cut after 6 years. Over 10 years, $195 million has been spent on this testing program.

A model of medium complexity, suitable for modellers with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. But its construction is quite complicated and requires special attention, concentration and diligence.
