The French cruiser, which was designed according to the limitations of the so-called "Washington" cruisers, that is, the ship's displacement should not exceed 10,000 tons, the caliber of the guns was limited to 8 inches. After entering service, the cruiser was assigned to the 3rd Light Division in the Mediterranean. From May 6, 1935 until the end of service, the cruiser was the flagship of the cruiser force. "Algerie"'s first military operation was a hunt for the German raider "Admiral Graf Spee", but it could not be detected. During France's war against Italy, "Algerie" took part in the bombardment of Genoa. The last operation of the war of this cruiser was the escort of a convoy from Marseilles to Oran. In 1942 November 11 the Germans carried out the "Attila" plan and tried to take over the rest of the French fleet. On the night from November 26 to 27 "Algerie" was moored at pier no. 4. Explosive devices were placed on the ship, which were intended to blow up the ship, if the Germans tried to capture it. November 27 ft 6:40 a.m., when the Germans tried to take over the cruiser, the crew blew it up. The ship burned for almost three weeks.
A large, complex, well-detailed and well-designed heavy cruiser model for intermediate to advanced modelers. The model recreates the appearance of the ship in 1941. This is the 2nd revised edition of this cruiser model from the "Oriol" publishing house. The first edition had to be flipped and even glued to its model. Although the match was perfect, the colors... there were just as many shades of gray, as the sheets in edition. In this one, all the gray details are perfectly (or almost perfectly) the same shade, corrected the deck color. The graphic instructions are excellent, but the textual ones are minimal, although they are in Russian, English, German and Polish.
