HMS "Sheffield" (C24) - British light cruiser of the Second World War. The keel of this ship was laid in 1935, launched in July 1936, commissioned in the Royal Navy - 1937. Total length of the ship - 170 meters, width 18 ,8 meters, displacement - about 11,400 tons. Top speed - about 32 knots. Armament: 12 x 152 mm guns, 8 x 102 mm cannons and 6 x 533 mm torpedo tubes. HMS "Sheffield" (C24) was one of "Town"-class light cruisers of the "Southampton" type. This type of ship was designed as a sort of British response to the Japanese "Mogami"-class cruisers, which were originally built as light cruisers , greatly enhanced anti-aircraft armament. In general, the "Town"-class cruisers are considered successful ships with strong armament and good seaworthiness and combat characteristics. HMS "Sheffield" (C24) was active in the Second World War, operating mainly in Norwegian waters in the 1940s. The ship also took part in the May of 1941 year, tracking down and sinking the German "pocket battleship" "Bismarck". In late 1942 it supported the Allied landings in North Africa (Operation "Torch") and in the summer of 1943 - the Salerno landings. After the end of the Second World War, the cruiser served, among other, in the Mediterranean and in the Far East. In 1959 HMS "Sheffield" was transferred to the reserve and scrapped in 1967.

A small, moderately detailed light cruiser model, depicting the ship, as it was in 1939 - gray with dark grey color metal decks and wooden main decks. There is even a model of the reconnaissance seaplane "Walrus". Even a novice modeler, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, can easily glue the model together without making any changes. But not as the first more complex model in his life. And there is no need to rush. Model without underwater part.
