Built in 1849-1852. After entering service, it was mainly used as a tug for large sailing ships, as a transport for transporting ground units or naval commanders. He spent the entire Crimean War in ports (Helsinki in 1854, Kronstadt in 1855-56) without ever encountering English and French ships, sailing in the Gulf of Finland. In 1856-57 "Griemiaschij" was re-equipped for the Emperor's travels. However, Emperor Alexander II used the ship only once on his pilgrimage to the Solovetsky Monastery. On September 17 the steam frigate hit a reef at full speed on Little Sommers Island due to a navigational error. Despite the fact, that the steamers "Smelyj", "Chrabryj" and "Vladimir" came to the rescue, "Griemiaschij" sank on September 26.

The cardboard model of the steamship frigate "Griemiaschij" belongs to the simplified model series of the Kherson company "Бумажное моделирование - Paper Modeling". The simplifications are due to the intended small scale (1:200), so we can recommend these models to beginers as a first experience in ship modeling. And the small length of the finished model will not cause problems with its placement on the shelf. Realistically, the model looks designed in a scale closer to 1:100 - specially measured and the length of the model reaches more, than 45 cm. Double-sided printing is used, where necessary, flags and sails are also double-sided printing on thin paper, bottom plating, some decor and deck details, porthole frames are printed with "Metalic" type bronze and copper paints. The graphic instruction is simply exemplary. The model is suitable for modellers of any experience, but it should not be one of the first more complex models You make. And for advanced beginners and modelers with little experience we recommend working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague.
