ORP „Jaskolka“ – the Polish base mine trawler

ORP "Jaskolka" is one of a series of six minesweepers and laying vessels, popularly called "birdies". They were the only naval warships, built in Poland before World War II from design to completion. The shipyard of the military fleet in Gdynia launched "Jaskolka" in 1934. At the beginning of the war the group of "birds" met in the port of Hel, but was soon transferred to Jastarnia. On September 7, 1939 the crew of "Jaskolka" shot down an attacking Ju-87 bomber during a patrol flight. On September 12-15, "Jaskolka", "Czajka" and "Rybytwa", which were still able to fight, supported the defenders of Oksyvie with fire, giving them the opportunity to go into a counterattack. The same three ships laid 60 mine barriers in the port of Gdańsk on the night of September 12-13. On September 15 the German aviation carried out two heavy raids on the port of Jastarnia and attacked the ships, standing "at anchor". "Jaskolka" sinks after being hit by a bomb, the other two ships are heavily damaged.

A fairly uncomplicated, well designed and detailed model, that will suit almost any experience modeler, but we don't recommend gluing it for a beginner modeler and for less experienced modelers - it should be built under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and it shouldn't be one of the first, more complex models You build.
