"Hetman Sagaidachnij" (Ukrainian: "Гетьман Сагайдачний") is a frigate, the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy. It was built as a patrol ship under project 11351 "Nerei". Named in honor of hetman Peter Konasevich-Sagaydachny. In 2022, during the Russian offensive in Ukraine, the crew sank it in Mykolaiv to avoid capture by the Russian military. The keel for the construction of this ship was laid (as "Kirov") in 1990 by order of the naval units of the border troops of the KGB of the USSR in October 5 Kerch at the "Zaliv" shipyard. Factory number 208. Chief designer - A. K. Shnyrov. It was the eighth ship in the series. The ship was additionally equipped with active stabilizers. On July 9, 1991, it was included in the lists of border troops and was launched unfinished on March 29, 1992. In 1992 in June it was handed over to the Ukrainian Navy and renamed. Joined the service in 1993 on April 2, July 4, the commander of the ship, captain 3rd rank V.S. Katushenka, raised the flag of the Ukrainian Navy. Became part of the 1st surface ship brigade. The ship was reclassified as a frigate according to international standards and initially (until July 1994) had the ship number "201", then, according to the then accepted standard of the Ukrainian Navy - U130, and after the transition in 2018 to ship classification, according to the NATO standard - F130. In addition to "Hetman SagaidachnY", two more ships of project 11351 - "Hetman Doroshenko" (serial number 210) and "Hetman Baida-Vyshnevetsky' (serial number 209, ex-"Krasnyj Vympel", dismantled on the slipway in 1990) were handed over to the Ukrainian Navy .). "Hetman Doroshenko", which was almost completed, was gradually dismantled for spare parts, used to maintain the combat readiness of the "Hetman Sagaidachny" frigate. Throughout its service, the ship participated in exercises and maneuvers, visited foreign ports and received visits from high-ranking Ukrainian and foreign officials. In short, he did active service in peacetime.
