"Tone" (Japanese: 利根重巡洋艦) is a Japanese World War II heavy cruiser of the "Tone" type, commissioned in 1938. The ship is named after the name of a river, that flows on the island of Honshu. For the most part of the war, it operated together with its fellow type "Chikuma" in places, where it was necessary to escort aircraft carriers and scouted the surrounding waters mainly with the help of quite a lot of deck aviation. The construction of "Tone" began on December 1, 1934 at the shipyard of the Mitsubishi company in Nagasaki. Launched on November 21, 1937, she entered service on November 20, 1938. The ship's first mission at the start of the war in the Pacific was to protect and provide fire support for the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. His reconnaissance planes followed the weather conditions before the attack. On April 6, 1942, he participated in the raid of the Japanese fleet in the Indian Ocean, during which 4 British ships were sunk. At the Battle of Midway on June 4, 1942, "Tone's" reconnaissance planes were the first to spot American aircraft carriers, but delays in relaying this information prevented them from using this information during the battle. On August 24, 1942, assigned to the forces, operating in the Guadalcanal area. In October 1944, "Tone" took part in the Battle of Leyte, during which it was damaged by bombs, dropped from US deck planes. On July 24, 1945, it was sunk by American planes during an air raid in Kure.

The model is very complex, well designed and richly detailed, intended for intermediate to advanced modelers only. You can assemble together cruiser model from 1944, when he participated in the Battle of Leyte, from the publication. Where necessary, details are double-side printed.
