The life of the cruiser was short, but stormy. It was hit by a torpedo in Pearl Harbor and the ship sailed to the US mainland for repairs. After that, she took part in the Battle of Guadalcanal on September 15, 1942, her crew rescued about 400 sailors from the aircraft carrier "Was", sunk by a Japanese submarine, on October 11 "Helena" made a significant contribution to the sinking of the Japanese heavy cruiser "Furutaka" and the destroyer "Fubuki" in the Battle of Cape Esperance . On December 12, the cruiser takes part in the battle near Savo and comes out of it completely healthy. At the beginning of 1943 he participated in the shelling of New Georgia. On February 11, 1943 the "Helena" was attacked by the Japanese submarine "I-18", but none of the launched torpedoes hit the ship. And for the submarine itself, it was the last encounter - it was sunk by the destroyers "Fletcher" and "O'Bannon" with the help of the cruiser's own plane. June 5-6 takes part in the battle near the island of Kühl. Here it was hit by three torpedoes, the cruiser broke in half and sank. 168 sailors died.

A complex, well-detailed and well-designed model, suitable only for experienced modelers. The publication is complete with laser-cut 1 and 0.5 mm cardboard frame and gluing details. Antiquarian publication.
