"Leone Pancaldo's" keel was laid on July 7, 1927 at the "Cantierri Navale del Tir-reno" in Riva Trigozo, launched on February 5, 1929, and commissioned on November 30, 1929. The ship was still undergoing acceptance trials, when the order came for ships of this series modernization. The modernization of "Leone Pancaldo" was carried out in the months of May - September 1930 at the Spezia Arsenal. Until the beginning of World War II the life of peacetime was boiling on the ship: training, maneuvers, visits, marches. From 1936 to 1938, it constantly sailed off the coast of Spain and supported General Franco's rebel operations with fire. On June 9, 1940, he participated in the battle near Calabria, from which the Italians fled, when the battleship "Giulio Cesare" was hit. After the battle, the retreating ships were attacked by British torpedo cutters during the Augusta raid on June 10, and one torpedo hit the "Leone Pancaldo". The ship sank very quickly, but in a shallow place and on August 1, 1941, it was raised and the ship was towed to La Spezia for repairs. And on December 12, it was returned to the fleet. Sailed with convoys to Tunisia and back, was attacked several times, but without serious consequences. On April 30, 1943, after several attacks by Allied bombers and torpedo cutters, it was sunk during the return trip from Tunisia with wounded German soldiers.

A complex, well-detailed and well-designed model, painted in a beautiful broken camouflage, suitable for intermediate and advanced modelers only.
