Monitor "Udarnyj" ("Striking") was the first major warship of the interwar period, built by the USSR. All available shipbuilding and armament innovations of the time were used in its construction. In order to save weight at the expense of armor, all heavy armament is concentrated in turrets, located in the front of the ship, leaving the stern practically unarmed. Special towers B - 7 were constructed for 130 mm cannons. Light armament consisted of two 37 mm cannons and several machine guns. The ship's keel was laid on November 21, 1930 at the Kiev shipyard, it was launched on May 17, 1932, and the flag was raised on June 1, 1934, and the ship entered service - the ship was included in the composition of the Dnieper flotilla. Later, when it was liquidated, and the Pinsk and Danube flotillas were formed in its place, "Udarnyj" fell to the second due to its size. In 1939, the ship was fundamentally modernized, 37mm single cannons were replaced by 45 mm caliber cannons, mounted in two turrets, anti-aircraft defense was strengthened with 4 anti-aircraft target installations, each of which consisted of 4 "Maxim" machine guns. On June 22, 1941, when the war with Germany began, "Udarnyj", as the flagship of the Danube flotilla, took part in all the operations of this unit. As the front retreated, the flotilla was redeployed to Odessa, where "Udarnyj" was being repaired. Later, the ship fought in the Nikolaev district and on the Bug River. On September 19, 1941, "Udarnyj" was attacked by German aviation and sunk in the Kinburn Spit area.
