A series of small passenger ships, named "Raduga" ("Rainbow") type is like a continuation of the small ships of the "Arkadia" type. Designers of the Black Sea Central Shipbuilding Bureau in Odessa created a more innovative and comfortable small passenger ship, based on the hull and power plant of the "Arkadija" type ship. The first ship of this type was built in 1966 at the Vielikij Ustiug shipyard. Serial building began in 1967 at the Zhdanovo (Mariupol) ship repair factory and the Vielikij Ustiug shipyard. This type of ships differed slightly in appearance and water capacity. In 1970 the project was improved and modernized ships marked with the designation of the 485M3 project ("Raduga-M") began to be built in Astrakhan and Taganrog. Modernized ships were longer, than their predecessors, but the main difference was almost twice as powerful engines, which allowed to increase the maximum speed by 2 knots. The first modernized "Raduga-M" type ship was built in 1970 at the Astrakhan shipyard. Serial construction took place here and in the ship repair factories of Zhdanovo (Mariupol) and Taganrog.

A small, uncomplicated, well designed and detailed model of a small passenger ship for modelers of all experience. But a beginner and a modeler with little experience should work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague and make the model without passenger salon and control cabin equipment, with opaque portholes, and take Your time. Also, it should not be one of the first models of greater complexity You glue. Some details are double-side printed.
