The project was approved on May 19, 1959, and already in October, the first experimental hydrofoil ship "Meteor" was launched, and its flight tests were carried out from November 1 to 17, 1959. During trials, the first "Meteor", built at the "Krasnoje Sormovo" (Red Sormov) shipyard, sailed from Gorky to Feodosia and was left there for the winter. On May 9, 1960, "Meteor" returned from Feodosia and arrived in Gorky on the 14th. In June 1960 "Meteor" was presented to A. Khrushchev. After attending the presentation, the aircraft designer A. Tupolev became very interested in the ship and asked R. Alekseev to drive the diesel-ship together. Serial production of "Meteor" began at Zelenodolsk A. Gorki Shipbuilding Plant in Tatarian ASR. From 1961 to 1999 more than 400 ships of this type were built here, and two more in 2006. At the end of the 1990s, the "Meteor - 2000" modification was built with imported engines and air conditioners, which was also supplied to China. Now most of the ships of this series have already been written off, and the surviving units sail very rarely.

A small, uncomplicated, well designed and detailed model of a beautiful ship for modelers of all experience. There is detailing of the passenger salon and command cabin equipment, which we do not recommend for beginners and less experienced modelers. It is recommended for them not to make transparent portholes and to work under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. Double-sided printing is used, where necessary.
