The self-propelled barges, represented by the T-36, presented to You in this publication, were Soviet amphibious barges, built on the model of the US scout LCM, intended for the delivery and disembarking of landings on an unprepared shore. A large series was built in 1950-1960. The T-36 became famous for its legendary drift, which took place in January-March 1960, when four servicemen of the USSR Armed Forces spent 49 days in the Pacific Ocean with only 3 days of supplies. On January 17, 1960, during a heavy storm, the barge, in which there were 4 soldiers at the time, broke away from the quay on Itrup Island. In an effort to stay in the bay of the island, all fuel reserves were used up and during the night of January 17-18 the ship was blown out into the open ocean by wind and currents. During drifting, the barge sailed 1,700 kilometers. On March 7, the barge was discovered and the soldiers were rescued by the crew of the American aircraft carrier "Kearsarge". The event was widely reported in the American and USSR press.
A simple, but well-detailed model that, under the supervision of a more experienced colleague, will be glued together without much difficulty by a modeler of any experience - even a beginner. But this should not be the model, from which gluing begins the journey into the world of paper modeling. All details, that were painted on both sides on the real ship, were printed with double-sided printing.
