The steamship "Choctaw" is named after the Choctaw tribe of Indians, who formerly lived in the territory of the states of Alabama and Mississippi. The keel was laid in 1853 at the shipyard in New Albany, Indiana, and launched in 1856. He carried goods on the Mississippi River. On September 27, 1862, the steamship was purchased by the US Army, converted into an armored warship and docked at the US Naval Base in St. Louis, Missouri. The crew of the battleship consisted of 106 sailors. From April 23, 1863 until the end of the Civil War, the USS "Choctaw" served on the Mississippi River and its tributaries. From April 29 to May 1, 1863, participated in the shelling of the town of Chein's Bluff, Mississippi, during the Battle of Grand Half with the Confederates. During this engagement, 53 shells hit the ship. From March 7 to May 15, 1864, USS "Choctaw" participated in operations to capture Fort De Russi, Louisiana.

A simple, but well-designed and accurate model of the ship, suitable even for modelers with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. Colors reserve are in stock. Where necessary, details are double-sided printed.
