USS "Indianola" is a river battleship, built in 1862 by Joseph Brown at the shipyard in Cincinnati, Ohio. The vessel was intended for service on the Mississippi and its tributaries. Entered service January 14, 1863, joined Rear Admiral David Porter's escadre February 23 at Cairo, Illinois. In no time, the "Indianola" was sent down the Mississippi to block the mouth of the Red River. The first battle of the battleship took place on the night of the 13th to the 14th of January 1863, when the ship managed to pass the city of Vicksburg under fire from coast guard batteries. On January 24, the "Indianola", at anchor about 30 miles south of Vicksburg, was attacked by CSS "Queen of the West" and CSS "Webb". The battleship was badly damaged and sank in the shallows. Confederates began repairs on the captured "Indianola'. Rear Admiral Porter sent a river barge downriver disguised as a monitor to prevent the ship from engaging the Southern fleet. The mystification succeeded. On March 4, 1863, the Confederates, having learned, that an enemy "armored ship" had been spotted near the repair site, blew up the "Indianola".

A simple, but well-designed and accurate model of the appearance of the ship, suitable even for modelers with little experience, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. There is a color reserve, where necessary, the details are double-sided printing.
