USS "Vesuvius" - an experimental gunship of the American Navy with a battery of three 381 mm guns, permanently mounted in the hull at a fixed angle to the deck. The cannons fired stabilized copper shells, filled with dynamite (hence the name "dynamite cruiser"). The shot was fired with compressed air. The ship was supposed to be used in the battle with the coastal fortifications, but the experience showed the major shortcomings of the battery - the firing range was not too great, the aiming was difficult and inaccurate. However, during the Spanish-American War of 1898, "Vesuvius" bombarded the Cuban port of Santiago several times - the silent volleys had a strong psychological effect on the Spanish. In 1904, "Vesuvius" was converted into a torpedo ship and it ended its service only in 1922, after the First World War.
A small and careful project, an original and aesthetic prototype are the undoubted advantages of this release. Double-sided printing, non-cutting eye camouflage, parade white paint. The model is designed for intermediate and advanced modelers, but not so complex, that it cannot be assembled by an advanced beginner or novice modeler under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. But it won't be easy. There are parts printed with metallic bronze paint.
