The rapid growth of foreign navies (especially German) in 1890 forced a review of Russia's 20-year naval construction program for 1883-1902. One of the newly emerging ships was the powerful two-tower well-armored, fast, and low-draft Coast Guard battleships. Work on the first began on June 16, 1892, the second on July 20, and the third on October 12, 1984. The “Admiral Ushakov” was laid in June 1892 at the “Baltijskij” Shipyard in St. Petersburg. Launched on October 27, 1893, he began service in September 1896. Since 1995, although the ship has not yet been brought into service, Rear Admiral De Livorn, the chief maritime artillery inspector, has kept his pennant on it. He took part in a trip to the Far East as part of a squadron, led by Nebogatov. Participated in the Battle of Cusima, injured in the first clash, left behind the squadron. As a result, he avoided an attack by Japanese miners, but encountered two Japanese cruisers, whose commanders offered to surrender the Russian ship. However, “Admiral Ushakov” exposed the fire and was badly damaged by retaliation. The ship was finally sunk by its own crew.
A complex, well-designed, richly detailed ship model for real sea wolves. Where necessary, details are printed on both sides.
