In 1898 the “Cunard” company loses the "Blue Belt of the Atlantic", which is overtaken by the German liner "Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse", and another competitor - "White Star Line" - builds a large liner "Oceanic", which will not rest on its laurels for long from the new to the tape owner. “Cunard” is ordering three new passenger ships, that will offer relatively good comfort and normal speed at an attractive price, instead of high speed and excessive luxury. This gave rise to “Carpathia” and the almost identical “Ivernia” and “Saxonia”. The keel of "Carpathia" was laid on September 10, 1901 by "C. S. Swan & Hunter” shipyard in Valsendon-on-Tyne. The ship was launched on August 6, 1902 and completed in February 1903. The ship quickly gained the respect of passengers, because it had good seaworthiness, did not feel vibrations from powerful engines and could carry 1,700 passengers on the route from Liverpool to Boston. Later, the ship served the Mediterranean - New York route. In 1904 "Carpathia" began working with the Hungarian agency "Adria", in 1905 it was modernized, increasing the number of passengers to 2,450. "Carpathia" became most famous on April 14, 1912, by rescuing the wreckers of the "Titanic" and bringing them to New York. Soon after, the ship is modernized once again, with the addition of 6 more lifeboats - a consequence of the “Titanic” disaster. Transports soldiers from Canada and the USA to Europe during World War I. On this way it was torpedoed and sunk by the German submarine U-55 on July 15, 1918, 5 crew members were killed. The remaining 218 crew members and 57 passengers were rescued by the sloop “Snowdrop”.

A well-designed and well-detailed waterline model of the passenger ship "Carpathia" of medium complexity, which will be easily assembled by a novice modeler, working under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. All the more so since they are provided with a number of simplified details or are given a reserve. Some frame parts are laser cut from cardboard of the required thickness.
