The British light cruiser “Ajax” was one of the most successful “Leander”-type ships, with four other ships, named after Greek and Roman mythological names. Only one of them, “Neptune”, was drowned during World War II. “Ajaх” is built at the “Vickers - Armstrong shipyard” in Barou. Keel was laid on February 7, 1933, launched on March 1, 1934, and entered in service on April 15, 1935. In November of the same year, he joined the West Indies Squadron and defended British interests in the Caribbean and South America. In the early days of the war, he based in the Falkland Islands and patrolled the ocean in Rio de Janeiro and La Plata, hunting German ships invading the Atlantic. He took part in the hunt for the German pocket liner “Admiral Graf Spee”, which resulted in the German crew sinking their ship in the port of Montevideo. “Ajax” was badly damaged and returned to England for repair. After the repairs, they sailed and fought for the rest of the period. He was removed from the service lists in 1948 and handed over for cutting in November 1949.

Not very complicated waterline type model, which is perfect for any experienced modeler, only beginners are better to assemble this model under the supervision of a more experienced colleague. An “Ajax” or “Achilles” model is available.
